Wildfire context for BC Highway 6 – Vernon to Nakusp
Highway 6 links the North Okanagan with remote Monashee valleys and Arrow Lakes communities through steep forest, recreation areas, rural properties, forestry roads, and ferry-dependent travel. Fires can affect one mountain section while conditions remain very different near Vernon or Nakusp, making a corridor-scale view useful.
Why this place-level view is useful
The route crosses several wildfire geographies and has relatively few simple alternatives through the mountains. FireRadar can show current official incidents relative to the corridor while DriveBC remains the source for ferry status, closures, restrictions, and operational travel information.
