Where current official perimeters are wired
FireRadar has a current direct-official perimeter path for the jurisdictions below. This is an integration-coverage statement, not a promise that every fire in the jurisdiction has a polygon. Perimeter availability varies incident by incident and can change as the authority updates its public product.
What FireRadar refuses to call a wildfire perimeter
No estimated radius
Reported hectares are never converted into a circle or estimated burn boundary.
No hotspot hull
Satellite thermal detections are never wrapped into a polygon and labelled an official perimeter.
No unmatched polygon
A polygon without a stable official incident identity is excluded instead of becoming a duplicate fire.
No historical substitution
An older retained perimeter is not silently shown as the selected fire's current official boundary.
Wildfire perimeter FAQ
Why doesn't every wildfire have a perimeter?
A perimeter appears only when the responsible provincial or territorial source publishes usable polygon geometry and FireRadar can match that polygon to the same official incident identity. Many agencies publish a fire location before, instead of, or more frequently than a mapped boundary.
Is the wildfire marker the fire boundary?
No. The marker is an official incident location or representative point. FireRadar never turns a reported fire size into an estimated radius. When an official perimeter is available, it is shown as separate polygon geometry after the incident is selected.
Are satellite hotspots wildfire perimeters?
No. NASA FIRMS hotspots are thermal detections and remain a separate observation layer. FireRadar never converts hotspot clusters into an official wildfire boundary.
Can FireRadar show an older perimeter when no current one exists?
Not as a current boundary. Historical perimeter revisions are kept separate from the current-perimeter product so an older official polygon is never silently presented as the fire's present boundary.
