Stations can be far from rural or remote parts of a region. The nearest observation may not represent conditions everywhere inside the regional boundary.
Open province air-quality map →The Okanagan combines dry grassland, forested slopes, dense wildland-urban interface, major north-south transportation corridors, agriculture, tourism, and rapidly growing communities. A regional view is useful because wildfire impacts, smoke, highway disruption, and incident response frequently cross individual municipal boundaries while remaining much more locally meaningful than a province-wide map.
Matched regional examples from FireRadar's completed 2026-08-09 → 2026-08-10 direct-official comparison. The retained incident-detail list is intentionally bounded, so absence here is not presented as proof that nothing changed in the region.
Use FireRadar's ECCC FireWork smoke forecast to see modelled smoke movement across and beyond Okanagan. Forecast smoke is not proof that a nearby wildfire is the source of local smoke.
AQHI and observed PM2.5 provide measured air-quality context and remain distinct from FireWork forecast smoke. Station coverage varies across a region, especially in rural and remote areas.
