See whether FireRadar is showing current local wildfire information, delayed updates, the last confirmed local data, CWFIS national data or an unavailable state for each province and territory.
How FireRadar chooses wildfire information
1. Local authority
Provincial and territorial wildfire authorities are preferred for incident names, status, reported size, identifiers, times and official perimeters where available.
2. CWFIS national data
Natural Resources Canada data can fill a gap when local information is unavailable or too old. It is clearly labelled whenever it is shown.
3. Satellite observations
Satellite thermal detections stay in a separate layer. They can show possible fire activity but are not confirmed wildfire incidents.
Current jurisdiction coverage
These states come from the same source checks used by the wildfire map. If CWFIS national data is shown instead of local information, the source is identified here and on the map.

Evacuation coverage is assessed separately
Receiving wildfire incidents does not prove that every local evacuation authority is covered. FireRadar separately reports verified notices, exact-location matching and whether monitored sources can support a scoped absence statement.

If a source cannot be confirmed, FireRadar does not report zero wildfires. The map either keeps the last confirmed local information with a notice, shows clearly labelled CWFIS national data, or marks the information unavailable.
