Counts show confirmed active-fire records from connected direct provincial and territorial sources. Unavailable or unconfirmed sources are omitted rather than treated as zero; sources using their latest confirmed data are labelled below.

Why the denominator is 11: Eleven provinces and territories currently publish dependable, machine-readable active-wildfire feeds that FireRadar can use directly. Prince Edward Island and Nunavut do not currently publish dependable, up-to-date provincial or territorial active-wildfire feeds. They are outside the direct-source denominator rather than being counted as failed or zero-fire sources. FireRadar does not provide a national fallback for either jurisdiction. If either begins publishing a dependable direct incident feed, FireRadar can assess it for inclusion.

Using FireRadar smoke maps in media
FireRadar smoke maps may be used in news and broadcast coverage. The underlying smoke forecast is Environment and Climate Change Canada's FireWork model; identify it as a forecast rather than an observation. FireRadar.ca credit is appreciated, and a link to the exact shared forecast view helps audiences inspect the source time and forecast-valid time for themselves.

Largest active fires in available direct sources
This ranking uses the latest usable source-reported size attached to active records from direct sources whose current or latest-confirmed state can be shown. Missing sizes are omitted, and the result is not a ranking of cumulative national annual area burned.
Attribution
For a FireRadar-derived count or comparison, a useful attribution is: “According to FireRadar.ca, using direct provincial and territorial wildfire sources…” Then link the relevant FireRadar page and, for safety-critical reporting, the responsible official authority.
When reporting on FireRadar data-update reliability itself, use the source-check history rather than inferring uptime from a single update time.

What FireRadar should not be cited for
FireRadar does not issue official emergency notices, road closures, or predictive spread guidance. Historical satellite heat observations are not confirmed fires and are not part of current incident totals. Use responsible emergency authorities for decisions affecting life, property, travel, or personal safety.
