FireRadar observation history

What changed in Canada's wildfires today?

A daily comparison of official provincial and territorial wildfire records available to FireRadar. CWFIS national records and satellite hotspots are kept separate.

Latest completed daily comparison

September 14 vs September 13

The comparison includes the same 9 of 11 official source jurisdictions for both dates. Unavailable jurisdictions are omitted rather than treated as zero activity.

Reported active size changed by -0 ha across records with usable sizes. The number of active records with a reported size changed from 407 to 408. This reflects source revisions, not measured fire spread. Perimeter revisions are counted separately and do not necessarily indicate growth.

Daily wildfire changes

Which wildfire records changed?

These are differences between two completed daily comparisons. “Newly observed” means a record appears in the newer comparison; it does not establish when the fire started. Reported-size changes are source revisions, not measured spread, and significance labels only control display order.

About the FireRadar daily archive

This page compares FireRadar records collected from July 20, 2026 onward. Older CNFDB, CWFIS and provincial historical datasets are separate research records and are not added to this series retroactively.

Definitions

What these changes mean

Newly observed wildfire
An official wildfire record present in the newer FireRadar observation but absent from the immediately preceding comparable observation. It does not establish ignition time.
Reported size change
The difference between two source-reported incident sizes within the stated comparable-source scope. It is not measured fire spread.
Moved to out
An official record whose status moved from active to out or extinguished between two comparable FireRadar observations.
Official perimeter revision
A change in official perimeter geometry recorded by FireRadar. It may reflect mapping, correction, boundary revision, or incident change and is not labelled burned-area growth.
