Wildfire context for Peace River Regional District
The Peace River Regional District includes boreal and foothill forest, agricultural land, energy and forestry operations, river valleys, Indigenous communities, rural properties, and major Highway 97 and 29 corridors. Large fires can affect industrial sites, farms, community access, utilities, and smoke across a region much larger than any individual municipality.
