Wildfire context across Northern Rockies
The Northern Rockies span an enormous landscape of boreal forest, muskeg, mountain terrain, Indigenous lands, energy and resource activity, remote recreation, and long sections of the Alaska Highway. Wildfires can affect road access, work camps, communities, aviation, tourism, utilities, and smoke over very large distances where alternate travel routes and emergency services are limited.
