What FireRadar will and will not claim
Official incident totals
National incident totals use connected provincial and territorial sources. CWFIS national records and NASA FIRMS satellite detections are counted separately.
Unavailable is not zero
If a source cannot be verified, FireRadar does not convert the failure into a zero-fire jurisdiction. Current and last-confirmed data remain clearly labelled.
Observation dates are shown
FireRadar's daily observation history begins in 2026. Earlier official records may provide context, but are not presented as observations FireRadar captured at the time.
Reported size is not annual area burned
Incident-level reported hectares are source-reported current sizes where available. FireRadar does not relabel their sum as Canada's cumulative seasonal area burned.
