What FireRadar will and will not claim

Direct-official totals

National incident totals use connected provincial and territorial official feeds. CWFIS national context and NASA FIRMS detections stay separate from direct-official incident totals.

Unavailable is not zero

If a source cannot be verified, FireRadar does not convert the failure into a zero-fire jurisdiction. Current and retained last-known-good states remain explicitly labelled.

Observed history stays honest

FireRadar-native daily observation history begins in 2026. Earlier official records may provide context, but are not presented as observations FireRadar captured at the time.

Reported size is not annual area burned

Incident-level reported hectares are source-reported current sizes where available. FireRadar does not relabel their sum as Canada's cumulative seasonal area burned.
