Do not compare a partial current-season FireRadar snapshot with a completed historical annual total as if they measure the same thing. FireRadar’s “reported active hectares” is the sum of usable sizes on fires active at a point in time; historical “area burned” is an annual statistic produced by fire agencies or burned-area datasets.
