Where is the smoke coming from?
Smoke affecting British Columbia can come from fires inside the province or travel long distances from other parts of Canada or the United States. The map intentionally remains continuous beyond the British Columbia boundary so regional transport is visible.
A smoke plume should not be assigned to a specific wildfire unless an official source supports that connection. Use the British Columbia wildfire map to inspect current official incident information separately.

FireWork is a numerical forecast of near-surface PM2.5 attributable to wildfire smoke. It is model guidance rather than a live measurement at every location, and forecast uncertainty generally grows farther from the model cycle.
Compare the forecast with current AQHI observations, local advisories, and official health information when smoke conditions matter to health or safety.

Use the smoke timeline to move through hourly forecast frames and watch how the model expects the smoke field to change.
Pan beyond the boundary
Zoom out or pan normally to follow smoke into neighbouring regions. This is a focused starting view, not a restricted provincial smoke map.
Smoke data and methodology
FireRadar reuses Environment and Climate Change Canada's FireWork forecast data and the existing FireRadar smoke rendering pipeline for every provincial and territorial smoke page. No separate jurisdiction-specific smoke dataset is downloaded for this route.
Forecast limitations
FireWork is model output and can differ from actual local smoke because emissions, weather, terrain, and timing change. FireRadar is informational and does not replace AQHI, local monitoring, health advice, smoke advisories, or emergency authorities.
