Wildfire context across Nicola Valley
The Nicola Valley combines dry grasslands, forested plateaus, ranches, rural properties, lakes, Indigenous communities, power and resource infrastructure, and the Coquihalla, Highway 5A, Highway 8, and Highway 97C corridors. Fires can affect multiple roads and rural areas at once, making a valley-scale view more useful than treating Merritt or Logan Lake as isolated points.
