The dashed outline is FireRadar's curated regional counting extent. Incident points, smoke forecasts, and AQHI observations are separate datasets and should not be interpreted as evacuation boundaries or fire-spread predictions. FireRadar regional extents may overlap near transition areas. Regional totals are useful local summaries and must not be added together to produce a province total.

Regional context

Wildfire context across Northeastern Ontario

Northeastern Ontario spans large boreal and mixed-forest areas, mining and forestry communities, lake country, remote roads, and major Highway 11 and 17 corridors. Wildfire and smoke impacts can cross very large distances, so the regional view provides a useful bridge between Ontario-wide activity and individual community maps while preserving direct official incident identities and source timing.

Northeastern Ontario smoke forecast

Use FireRadar's ECCC FireWork smoke forecast to see modelled smoke movement across and beyond Northeastern Ontario. Forecast smoke is not proof that a nearby wildfire is the source of local smoke.

Measured conditions

Air quality and AQHI

AQHI and observed PM2.5 provide measured air-quality context and remain distinct from FireWork forecast smoke. Station coverage varies across a region, especially in rural and remote areas.
