Gouin Reservoir is a vast, highly irregular water system surrounded by boreal forest, Atikamekw territory, fishing and hunting outfitters, remote roads, camps, and large areas without nearby towns. Wildfires can affect access, outfitting operations, aviation, traditional land use, and smoke at locations many kilometres apart.
