Alberni-Clayoquot spans the forested interior and rugged west coast of central Vancouver Island with Port Alberni, Indigenous communities, forestry roads, rural properties, remote settlements, parks, tourism destinations, and a constrained Highway 4 connection. Fires can affect access and smoke across very different coastal and interior environments.

The regional district provides a useful bridge between Port Alberni and remote west-coast destinations that do not fit one municipal page.
