Coastal Fire Centre Wildfire Map

Explore current wildfire context around the BC Wildfire Service Coastal Fire Centre, including Vancouver Island, coastal regions, and nearby mainland areas.

Map scope: regional context, not an official boundary filter

FireRadar opens the live map around Coastal Fire Centre, but it does not currently ingest the official management-area polygon as a boundary filter. A visible incident is not automatically claimed as belonging to Coastal Fire Centre. Use the linked authority for official area assignment, restrictions, notices, and operational decisions.

Regional geography

Why this area is useful to search

The Coastal Fire Centre spans highly varied coastal environments including Vancouver Island, the South Coast, Sunshine Coast, coastal mountains, islands, dense forests, logging and resource roads, and major population centres. Wildfire behaviour, access, and smoke can differ sharply between dry rain-shadow areas, exposed coast, steep valleys, and remote mainland inlets.

Operational ownership

What the official area means

The Coastal Fire Centre is one of six official BC Wildfire Service regional fire centres. FireRadar uses a broad coastal viewport for discovery and does not infer that every visible fire belongs to the official centre boundary; BCWS remains the source for operational assignment and regional notices.

Operational information remains with the authority

FireRadar does not determine evacuation status, road status, fire bans, area restrictions, suppression priorities, or whether travel is safe. Those decisions belong to the wildfire authority and responsible emergency-management organizations.
