CWFIS National Wildfire Map

This page isolates the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System national active-fire dataset. It is useful for viewing one Canada-wide reference layer without mixing it with FireRadar's direct provincial and territorial incident feeds.

CWFIS only

What this map shows

National active-fire records

Markers come from the CWFIS national active-fire dataset currently available to FireRadar.

One isolated dataset

Direct official provincial and territorial fire markers, recent out fires, and satellite hotspots start turned off.

Canada-wide context

The layer provides a consistent national reference where local source coverage and publishing formats differ.

How to interpret it

Treat it as an alternative view

CWFIS may not update at the same time or classify records exactly the same way as a provincial or territorial public map.

Do not add totals together

A CWFIS marker may represent the same incident as a direct official marker. The two layers should not be combined into one fire count.

Check the local authority

For incident status, evacuation information, restrictions, and emergency decisions, use the responsible provincial, territorial, or local authority.

Coverage and limitations

FireRadar labels CWFIS as an alternative national view rather than the default official layer. Records can lag, differ from local public maps, or omit source-specific details. The page intentionally starts with other wildfire datasets turned off so the CWFIS layer can be interpreted on its own.

Data source

FireRadar presents this view using Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. The interactive map is informational and may not reflect source changes immediately.
