Calgary Forest Area Wildfire Map
View current wildfire context around Alberta Wildfire's Calgary Forest Area with a focused map of the southern foothills and forested southwest.
Map scope: regional context, not an official boundary filter
FireRadar opens the live map around Calgary Forest Area, but it does not currently ingest the official management-area polygon as a boundary filter. A visible incident is not automatically claimed as belonging to Calgary Forest Area. Use the linked authority for official area assignment, restrictions, notices, and operational decisions.
Why this area is useful to search
The Calgary Forest Area covers forested and foothill country west and southwest of Alberta's largest southern population centre, including mountain-front communities, recreation areas, ranch land, parks, and major transportation corridors. Chinook winds, dry grass, forest fuels, and rapid weather changes can create very different wildfire conditions from the adjacent prairie and urban areas.
What the official area means
Alberta Wildfire publishes Calgary Forest Area updates as part of the province's official wildfire-status system. FireRadar's map is centred on the general area for context but does not reproduce the Forest Protection Area boundary or classify visible incidents into the Forest Area unless the source explicitly supplies that relationship.
Use the right layer for the question
Use FireRadar’s direct-official Alberta wildfire map for incident status and source provenance.
Use the FWI page for broad fire-danger context. It does not predict whether a particular incident will spread.
Use FireWork forecast guidance to follow modelled smoke through the region and beyond the management boundary.
Use AQHI observations for current health-risk context at participating reporting locations.
Operational information remains with the authority
FireRadar does not determine evacuation status, road status, fire bans, area restrictions, suppression priorities, or whether travel is safe. Those decisions belong to the wildfire authority and responsible emergency-management organizations.
