This map is broad fire-weather guidance. Fuel type, local terrain, weather observations, suppression, restrictions and actual fire behaviour can differ from the national layer. A map colour never means travel is safe, burning is permitted, or an area is free of wildfire danger. Follow the responsible provincial, territorial, Indigenous, municipal, park and emergency authorities for operational decisions.
Official methodology and source
Natural Resources Canada publishes the Fire Weather Index through the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. FireRadar requests that public source layer directly and preserves its symbology instead of calculating a separate local danger rating.
